ネオンの明滅について
私の制作は、光の明滅という最小単位の現象への気づきから始まりました。
かつて制作・公開していたGIFアニメーションが、ディスプレイ上での単なる点滅にすぎないことを理解したとき、その光は幼少期の記憶にある田園地帯のパチンコ屋のネオンサインと重なりました。動的に見える看板も、実際には一本一本の管が点滅を繰り返すだけ。しかし、その単純な反復から生まれる眩しく力強い瞬きは、閉鎖的な田舎の夜を外の世界へ繋いでくれる灯火のように感じられたました。
この原風景がきっかけで、描線の明滅のみで構成する作品を制作するようになります。
そして、明滅の反復はダンス音楽のように、永遠と刹那を感じさせ、高揚感を生み出しました。
On the Flickering of Neon Lights
My work began with an awareness of the smallest unit of phenomenon: the flickering of light.
When I realized that the GIF animations I had once created and shared were merely flickering dots on a screen, that light overlapped with the neon signs of pachinko parlors in the countryside from my childhood memories. Even signs that appear dynamic are, in reality, just individual tubes repeatedly flickering. Yet, the dazzling, powerful blinks born from that simple repetition felt like beacons connecting the closed-off rural night to the outside world.
This primal scene became the catalyst for creating works composed solely of flickering lines.
And the repetition of the flickering, like dance music, evoked both eternity and the fleeting moment, generating a sense of elation.
